Situated on the A478 opposite Ysgol y Preseli (Preseli School) in Crymych, this busy, family owned bakery includes a supermarket and post office. It's a great stop-off if you need sustenance and a coffee and is ideally located if you’ve included a visit to the cromlech at Pentre Ifan or the Iron Age fort at Castell Henllys into your plan.
Above all, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the unspoilt beauty of North Pembrokeshire, which is quite different from other parts of the county. You’ll pass sheep and ponies grazing on open moorland, you’ll climb the Preseli Hills and pass farms where families have made their living for generations. You’ll hear Welsh being spoken too, which will give you chance to practice the odd word if you’re not a fluent speaker. Shwmae pronounced a little like ‘shom i’ means hello and diolch pronounced ‘de olch’ where the ‘ch’ is harsh and not soft as in church, means thanks.
The weather is amazing too, much to the delight of artists and photographers, so slip a phone into your jersey pocket or if you’ve more space include a camera or sketch pad.
When you cross Foel Eryr, pronounced ‘voil ereer’, the highest point you’ll be able to see St Davids, Milford Haven and even The Gower Peninsular on a clear day.
